We are very excited to share a new fat transfer technique we are using called Nanofat. It’s used to treat those annoying fine lines, wrinkles, stretch marks and sun damage that can appear on the breast decolletage area as you age.
Fat transfer involves a surgical liposuction procedure where we remove fat from one area of the body (often the buttocks, hips or stomach) and transfer it to fill and sculpt another area of the body that lacks volume. We’ve been using fat transfer (also known as fat grafting) for many years in breast augmentation, breast reconstruction, buttock augmentation and facial rejuvenation surgeries.
What makes the Nanofat technique different from other fat transfer is that we are able to mechanically remove the large fat cells from the liposuction fat and use only the small fat cells for the transfer. These small cells (known as “stem cells”) help to stimulate the repair of damaged tissue – which results in improved skin texture.
The transfer can be done at the same time as the liposuction surgery. Using tiny needles (microneedling) we re-inject the fat into the breast decolletage area – targeting only the damaged tissue. This technique results in the production of collagen and elastin – which provide a rejuvenated appearance. Old skin cells will flake off after the procedure, making way for new skin cells.
Recovery for the micro-needling is very fast, and results are seen over the course of 6 to 8 months.
